The Gifted Development Center is pleased to announce that we will be providing testing services in both the Bay Area and Los Angeles, California.

Bay Area Testing:

Our testing in the Bay Area will take place at the Baywood Learning Center in Oakland. Testers from the GDC will be there July 16th an 17th, 2007.

It is our hope to continue to provide testing services at this location on a frequent basis.

Los Angeles Area Testing:

Beginning in August 2007, GDC Staff will be available to test in the greater Los Angeles area.

About Our California Testers:

Anne Beneventi has  had  a lifelong passion for working with gifted children.  She trained for many years with a leading authority on gifted children,   Dr.  Annemarie Roeper.  As a practitioner at Roeper Consultation Service, she evaluated children for giftedness and in 2002 was certified as a Master Practitioner of the Annemarie Roeper Method of Qualitative Assessment (QA). Previously, she worked at Bay Area Gifted and Creative, a program for gifted families.  She also taught first and second grade at Nueva School for the Gifted, was their drama specialist, and directed Nueva's summer program for several years. She co-founded Kaumeya International School in Alexandria, Egypt and Roeper West School for the gifted in Berkeley, CA. Currently, Anne has a private practice consulting with families of gifted children and conducts teacher training.  In addition, she is the Professional Outreach Coordinator of the Gifted Homeschoolers Forum, is on the admissions staff at Serendipity School and serves on the Board of Baywood Learning Center. 

Ilene Feinstein, M.A., N.C.S.P, LEP, is licensed by the California Department of Education as a School Psychologist and her professional experience includes 40+ years working in Los Angeles public schools as an elementary school teacher and school psychologist with an emphasis on assessment and instruction of gifted children. She is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) and was recognized in 1987 and 1994 by her local professional organization as “outstanding psychologist.” In addition she is licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners as an Educational Psychologist and has been in private practice since 1981 conducting comprehensive assessments and providing counseling to parents regarding appropriate educational placement for their children. She had the privilege of raising two highly gifted sons and is delighted to encourage the same for her two grandsons, now toddlers.

* DISCLAIMER:  At the Gifted Development Center, we are skilled at working with the entire range of giftedness, including profoundly gifted, and with children from 3 1/2 through adolescence. We also work with gifted adults. We have expertise in diagnosing learning disabilities. However, we do NOT have expertise with severe attentional deficits, autism, Asperger's Syndrome, Pervasive Developmental Delay, or severe emotional problems, such as manic depression, schizophrenia, etc. Specialists in these areas should be sought, if applicable.
