Introducing…GDC GlobalSince 1979, the Gifted Development Center (GDC) has been serving the needs of gifted families from nearly every corner of the world. Until now, that meant families had to travel to Denver for IQ testing or absorb the cost of an overseas phone call for a consultation. In Spring 2006, several members of the Gifted Development Center staff were invited to give lectures, test children, and consult with several families affiliated with Tokyo Gifted Academy. The resulting three-week event was a tremendous success for the dozens of American, British, French, and Japanese families involved, as well as for the team from the GDC. And, so, GDC Global was born. This first “outing” included a weekend of presentations by GDC Director, Dr. Linda Silverman, Associate Director, Bobbie Gilman, and Visual-Spatial Resource Director (a sister organization), Betty Maxwell. The conference was followed by IQ testing and assessment sessions for several gifted children, as well as consultations with their families. Demand was so great, two additional GDC testers, Helen McVicar and Ann DeMers, were immediately flown out to join the team. The success of this model has resulted in planned encore visits to Tokyo for members of the GDC Global Team in November 2006 and March 2007. We’re ready to travel to your school |
