The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) has been named the top graduate engineering school for Hispanics in the nation and was designated by the National Science Foundation as a Model Institution for Excellence—one of only six in the country. Recently, UTEP became one of only 11 universities in the nation to receive a “Teachers for a New Era” research grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York. The Corporation also ranks UTEP in the Doctoral/Research University-Intensive category, placing it among the top 7 percent of all colleges and universities in the United States. UTEP offers 81 bachelors, 74 masters, and 14 doctoral degrees in many areas, including biological sciences, computer engineering, computer science, environmental science and engineering, geological sciences, and materials science and engineering.
